Product Overview

Inspired by Real-World Experiences and Strong Analytical Skills

The developers of NFLProPicker are Brian and Barry Yager, twins, each with their own successful career, living thousands of miles apart. Both are avid football fans and both looked forward to each NFL football season so they could participate in a variety of football pools and make online wagers – often with side wagers between them to see which one was better at choosing winners. Over time, strategies evolved.

Brian is a computer software developer and his strategy tended to lean towards surfing the Internet, finding a number of pickers and taking a consensus of the ones with the best track record. Barry, a professional accountant and financial analyst, was more inclined to check all the performance statistics he could find for the two teams in weekly match-ups and select the one which "statistically" appeared to have the edge against the spread.

A Plan Based on Pure Logic Evolved

The developers soon realized that both their approaches had merit. They also came to appreciate that there are also intangible factors that come into play -- factors that are known to committed football fans. These factors could be a team’s momentum, the weather, injuries, etc. – in other words, discretionary factors that different fans evaluate in different ways. In the end, like in a chess game, "guessing" the result wasn't an option - the selection of a winner had to be based on logic.

The developers believed that the above factors could be automated. NFL football fans are passionate about their game and betting on NFL football is big business in the US. Why not produce a high level software product that allows for the collection of relevant data and then makes logical decisions on the outcome of weekly match-ups against the spread? Better yet, why not calculate the Chance of Winning (CW) for each weekly game and then further refine the data to calculate a Preferred Wager Factor (PW) for each game? As a result, NFLProPicker was born with development commencing in the fall of 2007 and intensive testing conducted during the 2008 and 2009 NFL seasons.

The Developers Knew What They Didn't Want to Create

The developers wanted to get better at picking winners -- but viable options were hard to find. What they did learn was that choices based on hunches, tips, random selections and disjointed statistical data weren't REAL solutions so they quickly understood what wouldn't work. Accordingly, don't compare NFLProPicker to:

  • a spreadsheet that compares the statistics of 2 teams in weekly match-ups, one that may be difficult to follow and reaches no concise conclusion
  • a professional picker whose opinion (based on his historical selection results) may well be valid, but is not supported by empirical research and analysis
  • a web site that precludes users’ own judgement and conclusions by keeping its methodology, rating factors and determination of winners hidden from their customers

The Final Product Speaks for Itself

NFLProPicker is no longer just a concept – check out the "Picks Strategy" page to fully understand the software's rich functionality. You will come to understand how the developers achieved their primary goal of making  NFL wagering a viable season-long investment opportunity. Consider the following:

  • the reality -- there are simply no comparable PC-base software products in the professional football marketplace
  • nor has any other software actually succeeded (or we suspect even tried) to statistically quantify the strengths and weaknesses of all 32 NFL teams and then (a) compare that information from one team to another and also (b) relate this to point spreads in given weekly match-ups
  • you could recover the modest purchase price of NFLProPicker picks with your very first on-line bet or casino wager -- note that weekly purchases are guaranteed. If NFLProPicker losers exceed winners, your purchase price is fully refunded
  • hard-core NFL fans can also choose to purchase the NFLProPicker ANALYTICS product which compiles and reports the 10 major team statistics weekly during the season and ranks the 32 teams from strongest to weakest in each category
  • the NFLProPicker products are marketed through approved resellers as listed on our "Order" page
  • As is done on this site, these reseller sites also show, AT NO COST, Stats-based Power Rankings and Straight-up Preference Picks as well as periodic articles that discuss various aspects of NFLProPicker investment strategies
